Rebuilding an IRLP Node from scratch is rather easy and can usually be accomplished in well under an hour. You will need to have a node backup file (irlp_backup.tgz) for the node you are rebuilding. If you don't have a node backup file, then you will require the assistance of the IRLP installs team. Please

directly or through the IRLP Node Owners Group. With a node backup file available, proceed with the following steps to have your node back up and running in short order:
- Install the Operating System from the Official IRLP Linux Distribution CD as you would with any OS.
- Copy your IRLP Node backup file (irlp_backup.tgz) to the /tmp directory.
- Login as user root and type, "/root/get-irlp-files " at the console and press enter. This will retrieve the latest installer scripts from the IRLP Server. When prompted, make sure you choose re-install of existing node so that the correct installer script (in this case re-installer) gets run.
- Simply follow the instructions provided during the re-installer script execution. It should find your IRLP Node's backup file in the /tmp directory.
- Allow it to restore your node from that backup file.
- If all went well, your node should be fully restored. But you're not quite done yet!
- See the New Install Page for complete steps on getting your settings dialed in. Don't overlook this last step!
* NOTE * If the node backup file used during your node rebuild was created after having installed EchoIRLP, then your node backup file will contain some modifications made by the EchoIRLP installer. These changed files will carry over to your new node during the re-install process. If you plan to re-add EchoIRLP support, it's a non-issue as long as you are aware that your node won't function properly until you get EchoIRLP re-installed. However, if you don't plan on re-adding EchoIRLP support, you will need to remove the changes that your original install of EchoIRLP made to some of your IRLP files. For complete steps on removing EchoIRLP from your IRLP Node, see my article on Removing EchoIRLP from an IRLP Node.
